Dorsey Reading began his career working with his father in the building trades. He went on to work for Paul Evans, the master craftsman, sculptor, and furniture designer based in New Hope, Pennsylvania. He quickly became his most relied-upon employee, shaping Evans’ drawings into beautiful bronze, steel, slate and verdigris copper pieces. Dorsey’s work with his father and Evans taught him the basic skills and principles he would use throughout his career, those of good design, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
Following his work with Paul Evans, Dorsey turned his knowledge and experience to building fine custom cabinetry, designing and building many beautiful custom kitchens and cabinets in the New York area. With a reputation for skilled work and exacting standards, he moved to renovating historic homes in Bucks and Hunterdon Counties. Using old world craftsmanship and techniques, and with an eye for period detail, he updates old structures with the same care and artistry with which they were first built. Using the same techniques, he creates new structures that have the look and feel of having been built one hundred years ago.
Supervising a crew of talented craftsmen, Dorsey has renovated and renewed historic homes, commercial properties, and built new homes throughout the Delaware Valley. His hands-on approach to each project ensures that his clients receive the finest quality work and the highest level of professionalism.
